Drake Sterling has worked at Zionsville High School since 2011. Prior to taking over as Head Coach of the Girls Track and Field team, he was as an assistant coach, working with various event groups. Prior to coaching at Zionsville, Drake coached at Noblesville High School as an assistant. He is a level 1 USATF certified coach.

Drake grew up and attended LaPorte High School. He graduated with his bachelors from Indiana State University in 2009.

Prior to entering his coaching role, Drake ran competitively in high school, college, as well as professionally post-collegiately. While competing collegiately, he was a two-time All American in both the decathlon and the 4x400m relay. In 2012 and 2013, he was a USA Indoor Championships qualifier in the 800m run, with the 2012 season ending with a 12th place finish at the USA Indoor Championships. Having retired from competition, Drake owns personal bests of 48.66 (400m), 1:48.70 (800m), and 3:50.15 (1500m).

Drake lives in Zionsville with his wife and two young children.
